    Hi,

I have two of these plants sitting on a long cabinet against the back wall of my lounge. One if the plants is perfect however the other one, about 5 feet distance away, has some leaves that have lost their colour and gone light brown with a slightly crispy texture to them.

Can anyone please tell me what the problem might be caused by?

I've attached photos showing the discolouration.

    Kind Regards,

    Murray

More sun on one or the other? Is the crispy one near an electrical heating appliance (considering it's your winter...)?

    Hi,

The plant that has good leaves is sheltered by a "Grape Vine" plant so it probably gets filtered to full shade light.

The one with the loss of colour is more open and is closer to a gas heater which he have on only at night. This plany may get slightly more light than the other one.

    Cheers,

    Murray

The problem could be related to the type of gas you use. On an aroid discussion board last winter people were debating whether or not you can use gas to heat a greenhouse. I personally use natural gas with zero problems and I grow many rare aroids. But people that were using Propane and Butane were having all sorts of problems. It appears some gases give off fumes, even after they are burned, that some plants just can't tolerate. But at any rate, I'd certainly agree with Marn and move the plants away from the heat source.
