Did I kill my Meyer Lemon tree (time to start over)?

My little plant had a rough life. I nursed it back to health after it dropped most of its leaves post-travel. It budded, dropped the buds, and then just started dying to the point where the main trunk was a dried out stick. However, though the main trunk was dead, a sucker (or what I think is a sucker) started growing about 2" from the base. Now all that is left is the "stump" that has been pruned/snapped away and this sucker.

Is it worthwhile to keep the plant (is this really only a sucker that will never bear fruit)?

I would call that a branch rather than a sucker. I can't tell you if this will ever bear fruit though...

Well, that is still somewhat better news. I guess I may have to wait a season and see. Thanks for the help.
