Can someone please help me with my desert rose plants. I have them indoors on the south side. They dropped leaves right after repotting and seemed to recover. However, now, about a month later, they appear to be dropping there leaves again. Is this normal and should I cut the stems were most all the leaves have fallen off?

What rose is this, Rosa persica, or Rosa 'Desert Island', or something else? Can you post some photos?

I imagine it is Adenium obesum or similar.

Yes, that is correct. Can you help me with the problem of falling leaves. Should I move them outside, or cut the stems without leaves.

So not a rose, after all (if you'd used the right name in the first place, you'd likely have got a quicker reply ;-)

The leaf loss is likely to be related to winter day length; in the wild Adeniums are dry-season deciduous, and that coincides with shorter day length. Keep the plant dry until the spring, then start watering a little in late March or April; that should stimulate leafing. Increase watering as the leaf growth becomes extensive, but always allow it to dry between waterings to cut the risk of rot / decay. Cut down on water again in mid to late autumn, in preparation for next winter's 'dry season'.

So when the leaves fall off, do I need to cut the stems before they start growing again in the spring or just leave them alone.

Just leave them alone, no need to cut it.

Thanks for your response. I will follow your advise. Since you ave been so helpful, I have another question regarding a third Adenium which I keep outdoors. I live in Zone 9 and I noticed that the leaves have yellow spots on the topside and the underside has what appears to be small black powder. The plant gets to a flowering stage, but the flowers die off before actually blooming. Any suggestions?

Possibly a fungal disease? Sorry, not something I know about in this case.
