dendrobium pruning question

    hi,
    i have a home depot dendrobium. the blooms are almost done. but now some of the stems are yellowing. how should i prune the stalks? do i cut them right down to the base or some other specific place? thanks.

    When flowering is done prune back old flower stalks, if some of the older canes are drying out and turning yellow (straw colored) they can be removed as well. Canes that are still green shouldn't be removed as they are stored energy (and will flower again on some Dendrobiums, even when leafless).
