    What nutrient leaves when sawdust decomposes -
    Nitrogen?
    Phosphorus?
    Potassium?
    OR???

    Hey!...Which one of the above is the most limiting on plant growth (in general) in a rainy climate? Which one forms the most soluble salts in the soil? Which one is the only one to originate in the atmosphere & be converted to more complex molecules by bacteria?

    Every question breeds a family of questionlets...

    No. I suggest you do a Google search with a tag along the lines of "composting wood waste". There are lots of good sites out there that can give you better information than me.

    Langley, B.C. Stones throw from old HBC farm.
    Google nitrogen cycle and you should find your answer and then try carbon cycle for further information.
