Please could someone help me identify this plant, as we are trying to ascertain its toxicity. It is a shrub or some kind of hedge or bush, and very similar to vibernum acerifolium apart from the leaves. Please see the picture. It has small compound yellow (creamy white/ivory?) flowers and white berries. Thank you so much. Tallulah
Can't be 100% positive, but it looks like Dogwood. Cornus sericea Flaviramea. It used to be called Cornus stolonifera Flaviramea.Hope this helps.Good luck.Dog wood is not included in HMSO publication "Poisonous plants in Britain".
Thank you for this, that's very reassuring. The doctors thought it could be snowberry and my husband thought Viburnum cassinoides - all look very similar, but none seem desperately toxic. Our daughter seems fine and only had a tiny tiny bit. Tallulah
In that case you're OK. Dogwood berries are very slightly poisonous, but you'd have to swallow about a hundred or more of them to come to any harm. And the taste is too revolting for anyone to want to do that!
