I just bought a beautiful Daphne odora 'Aureo-Marginata.

I would appreciate hints on how and where I should plant this bush and how to take care of it.

I have a brand new garden which is attached to the deck which is where I would like to plant it.

    Thanks Marie

Part shade, good drainage, good near deck as long as you are out there early in the year, when it blooms. Not long-lived in cold gardens, needs to be near salt water - seems to be hardy to about 10 degrees F. or somewhat less. Not a specimen quality plant, good facing down taller shrubs with bare bottoms, for instance hardy hybrid rhododendrons that have been showing their legs.

So how near does it need to be? If I get a bucket of salt water and put it one metre away from one, would that satisfy its needs??
