hi. I came onto this site to find an answer why my plants leaves are going yellow and falling off
I brought my plant about 3 months ago and as of yet I still havent got a permanate home so it is still in a pot.I know nothing of this plant except it has a yummy perfume and doesnt like being moved once planted.I have moved it to a sheltered, part sunny place but its leaves are still continuing to fall off.Would love some help on this.
    Thanks

Daphnes are apt to die. Yours might have something like root rot, or even a virus. Or the potting soil may be all leached out and soggy, or dried out on the inside where you are not seeing it.

Or it could be going through it's annual moult. Mine is old as far as daphs go (20+yrs). Every year she looses her leaves a fair bit and then the new growth comes on.

Make sure it is in well drained soil and not overwatered and filtered light. That is, not roaring sun just light dapple. Mine grows in a gravelly mulchy soil on the edge of the drive under a birch. The only time I give it water is during our long hot summers and even then only once a week or so. I do mulch with good leaf litter each year and some blood and bone (bone meal)

Hey thanks very much for the quick replies,it may be that I have overwatered my plant as it was very healthy when I brought it and I do recalled for a while watering it every 2nd day in the warm weather.cheers

Bonnie I meant for my so called instructions to refer to an established plant re the watering. While in pot don't overdo it but when you plant it out make sure it stays damp but well drained while it establishes. As you are going into winter as well, once planted it may be getting enough just keep an eye on it. Overwatering on plants is as bad as undewatering.
