Damaged Palm Tree

  1. Hopefully you can assist me with this problem,

Unfortunately my palm tree which is located in my garden was recently vandalised. Basically, it has been snapped about 4inches above ground level.

I do not know the exact type of palm tree, but it grows fairly quickly here in the changeable UK climate.

It's probably best described as the type seen in warmer climates, which grows very tall, has a rough trunk with it's green leaves sprouting fron the top. It is approx 15yrs old, 5-6ft tall, and has a 4" dia trunk. I know many palms exist, but this is the type which most people would think of if asked to describe a palm tree. (Sorry for my lack of knowledge !)

My question is : I have placed the snapped trunk in a bucket of water. Is it likely to survive, and if so, how should it be cared for & re-planted?

    Thank you for you assistance.
