I love daffodils and have a few questions before I start planning my gardens.

    1. How many years does a typical daffodil bulb keep flowering for?

    2. I know that they like moderate temperatures, but will they grow in warmer and colder regions such as up North in Whitehorse and in the hot dry interior like Merritt?

    3. What type of maintenance is required for each area?

    Thank you for any advice.

Some in my garden have been going for 20-30 years at least.

I have a similar question. My daffodils spouted offspring daffodils that have no flowers. Can I just leave them all alone hoping that they all will flower next Sping or do I need to dig them out and separate the bulbs? (and can I plant back the small bulbs?) When is the best time to dig them out if I have to do so? [I'm in zone 5]

If you dig them out to separate them make sure you leave the green folage on them as they will continue to get food from it. Keep them in a dark dry spot and replant in the fall. Daffodils as well as tulips need to go through a freeze to produce flowers in the spring

Thank you for your replies. Does anybody know which zones daffodils will survive? Will they run their cycle in a zone 3?
