Bottom line - is it an acceptable practice to trim off new, inward growing pear branch buds?

I have two 3 year old pear trees, Bartlett and Highland. I live in North Surrey and they re just a couple of weeks into winter buds expanding. They are just at the stage where I can easily see which will become flower clusters and which will be new branches. I'm thinking that it may be a good ato trim off those branch buds that will end up being inward-growing branches that I'll just have to eliminate next winter anyway.

Unwanted growth on pear trees, and most other fruit trees, can be removed at any time of year. The only exception that I can think of is that stone fruits should be pruned during the spring or summer.
