These gold forms do seem to be prone to freezing in this region. Despite having been introduced to North America for a long time we have no large old examples - unlike in Britain and New Zealand. Even the typical wild green tree is comparatively rare here; although there are some large examples these are limited to hypermaritime sites. I have seen very few that were not within view of salt water.
