In the past week two ground cover plants just transplanted and one seedling of ornamental grass, also just transplanted in a peat pot, have been pulled from the ground. I replanted the ground cover (elfin thyme) and secured with long spikes but both plants were disturbed again - in fact they vanished completely. I am almost certain that the crows who hang around our corner are responsible. References I have checked don't discuss this kind of damage caused by crows. Does anybody have any insight - for example is this food seeking, or seasonal? I am planting ground cover on city property outside my yard, with considerable foot traffic so am limited in what I can do to physically keep the crows away. I think crows also pull plants out of pots - sedums etc. I have been keeping in the yard. Bob Gordon Vancouver west side
Also known as yardbirds. Here we get wood chips on the paving and grass next to beds that have been mulched with them, because crows come and flick them.
