crimson queen

  1. my crimson queen is starting to split into half. It is starting from the top down. Any ideas what is causing this?

    Could this be a tree too heavily laden with moisture on weak branches? Sometimes over here after heavy rainfall and winds we might see such a result
    If the branchlets are weak you could tie them together with a tape which can be left in place for a few years until they are strong enough to keep a shape by themselves (a little like 'wiring' a bonsai to shape I suppose) I did this with a 'garnet' about 15 years ago with great success
    Just an idea
    On the other hand, if you mean that your tree is 'splitting' i.e the branches breaking off, then you most certainly have to try to tie them up, trim them off, or reduce the weight in some way?
    As I say, I am not sure what you mean
