My yard is infested with creeping buttercups, and this drives me crazy. How do I get rid of these.

Dig by hand or spray with herbicide. Have only seen one kind listed for this plant, with comments on how to apply it to acreage. Since this is a common pest here, local garden centers will be asked how to get rid of it frequently - if there is a product suitable for homeowner use available, they will have it.

I suspect that it is really bad stuff, but...

This weed is very widespread here, and some years ago I bought a chemical called "MCP" - acronym for a chemical compound, not a trade name, I think - said on the label to get rid of three or four weeds including this one. I don't recall ever using it, but this year the weed started to take over my entire lawn so I applied it as directed. The weeds all died. The biggest success story I've ever had in weed eradication. But I am still troubled about what I did to the environment.
