   I have just noticed some long vertical cracks in the trunk of my maple tree, which is about fifteen years old. The trunk is about 20 cm in diameter. There are long streaks of moisture that seem to be coming from the cracks, that looks dark brown. Any ideas what caused this? How do I treat it? Is my maple in trouble?
