Hey there! I'm looking for specific areas where I can find wild Corylus cornuta (var. californica or cornuta) in Southern BC (for now perhaps just in and around Vancouver). The e-flora map is an ok start but a lot of the specimens mapped are rather old (1910s-present). Anyone know where to find higher resolution maps/ know any spots nearby? Thanks!
Visit the UBC Herbarium and the provincial herbarium at RBCM to look at specimens. You can record the locality information from the specimen labels. E-Flora BC's data is derived in part from these records, but not all specimen labels have been digitized yet, so it is remains best to go directly to the source.
Thanks for the reply! Ive noticed a lot of the specimens (logged in Eflora)were collected in the 1910s;20s;30s;40s. One of the spots I visited is now unfortunately a baseball diamond
