I just thought I would share a picture I took today of our native west coast dogwood. This is the cultivar 'Colrigo Giant' (some spellings differ), named for the Columbia River Gorge where it was dicovered. I have never read or heard when it was discovered or by whom - maybe someone else can share that with us.

Found 1949 in Columbia River Gorge, thus col-ri-go. Original tree cut around 1959.
