I planted a Cornus Kousa last summer. This spring it has not really shown buds, but now the tips have very tiny red buds. I can see Aphids on some of these. At least I know it is not dead..

Temperature getting to 50-60 here, most trees now are leafing out. Is this normal to take that long or was it too stressed from last year, possibly getting too much sun because the leaves eventually got scrotched.

Hard-spray the aphids off, or find some ladybugs to do the job. Scratch the trunk to see if there's green underneath, but as there are buds, it should be ok. Weather's weird all over now.
