I recently brought 2 small corn plants. The florist had told me that I can put them outdoors. But after being on the porch for one day, the plants got sunburn. So now I have them indoors and some leaves are starting to turn a bit yellow and black on the sides of the leaves.

I read that they can not be in direct sunlight. But since the florist said that was fine, perhaps I am not reading up on the correct information. Please let me know what I can do to help these plants grow healthy and strong.

You might consider asking for a refund from the florist. That was wrong information. Even if they could take direct outdoor sun, they would still have to be carefully acclimated very slowly over time.
With sunburned leaves, the damage usually isn't always appearant right away, so it could still get a lot worse. I would concentrate now on the new growth at the top, making sure it is healthy and new leaves are coming fairly fast. You want bright indirect light (or a little indoor direct light if it's in the early morning or end of the day), frequent water (but not constantly wet or ever sitting in water), and frequent but light fertilizer.

Thank you for your reply. That helps! I do have it indoors now and some leaves are slowly turning all yellow. I have been carefully trimming them. I water it once a week but the soil feels dry so I am tempted to water it more frequently but I am afraid of over watering.
