Ok, so everyone says this plant is so easy to take care of, yet the tips of mine's leaves keep turning brown and there are holes in some of the leaves (maybe some insects eating on it?). It is in a room with 2 windows that gets a fair amount of morning sun, and a little bit of evening sun. I water it only when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. I have been fertilizing it about once a month with Miracle Gro and just switched to Osmocote about a month ago. I mist it about 2 times a day. It seems that the browning leaf tips are mainly on one side of the plant and I was worried that that side may not be getting as much sun, so I turned the plant where the browning leaf tips are now facing the window. The center growth of the plant looks great and the new leaves growing up the center look heathy, in fact most of the plant looks heathy. Is there something I am doing wrong? Can anyone give me some advice please! I love this plant and want it to look the best possible. Also, what should I do with the leaves that the tips have turned brown?

    Thanks
    Tamara

Oh, and I forgot to mention, it is still in the original plastic pot I bought it in. I have had it for about a month or 2 and haven't repotted it yet. Should I do this now?

The brown tips may be due to chlorine or fluorine in your water. Try distilled water or rainwater. For now you can trim them to make the plant look better. Trim them at an angle so the leaf still ends in a point for the most attractive appearance. You might water a bit more frequently, but do not leave them soggy wet.

Thanks for the reply. I read shortly after I originally posted someone talking about using distilled water. I might try that. I have been using only tap water and the water here is notorious for leaving that ugly pink ring around the toilets and bathtubs, so I'm sure it's not the most ideal water for plants. I will give that a try. Thanks a bunch!
