My office has an old corn plant that has shown many problems in recent months. It is about 8 foot high in a 2 foot container in a bright but not direct sun location. The soil is moist but not wet. The upper leaves have half moon dry patches (see photo) that have been there for a few months. The lower leaves just developed light yellow spots and have random size and shaped cotton like dots which can be swept off (see photo). I can find no insects. We cut off one stalk and cut it into pieces. They are doing great in water and with roots and new leaves. Any idea what it is suffering from and what we can do to fix it?
Correction: The cuttings which are in another location remote from the mother plant are developing yellow spots.
Hi The white fluff in the photo looks like mealy bugs. Try a seach for draceana mealy bugs/ Also the yellow spots could also be caused by to much floride in the water as they sensitve to this. Regards Doug
