I put two coral bark maples in the ground in mid-spring and at the time felt they were two of the more unimpressive maples in my garden. Lately as I've been walking around they are both blazing red and I clearly see their impact in the landscape. I know most seem to think the more cold they're exposed to the more they show their red bark. I'm curious as to what others are seeing out of the coral bark Japanese maples 'sango kaku', 'Japanese sunrise', 'winter flame' etc. I also posted some pix and info on my blog.
