HI I missed something here, it seems copper sprays were pulled of the market or at least are not readily availeable anymore ? Anyone know why? Thanks all best regards Doug
Hi Doug: I know why but I am not going into detail other than to say that elemental Copper has too long a half-life, aside from the health issues associated with Copper. Do an online search for Copper fungicides and you will find some OTC products that are still being made but are not readily supplied any more. In the last 15 years or so there has been a move to use either Calcium sulphate or Calcium hydroxide rather than the old Copper sulphate. I think the two URLs below may give some insight as to why the Copper sprays were put out to pasture. http://www.inchem.org/documents/ehc/ehc/ehc200.htm http://www.caps.20m.com/sankeysafe.htm Jim
Hi Doug: A quick note: As a preventative for certain fungus diseases on Fruit & Nut trees and Grapes, Copper sulphate is still being used. It is just harder to locate a supply of it now. The Bordeaux type sprays with just Copper sulphate are still considered by many to be one of the best fungicides we have. Best regards, Jim
