  1. I was wondering if you knew why my copper beach tree has changed from its normal colour to green?

  2. Colour change?

I recently purchased a copper beach tree. unfortunetly after having it for 3/4 months it has changed its colour from the original copper to green. I wondered if this was a normal change as to do with the seasons or if my tree is unhealthy. Please can you tell me if it is unhealty and if so how can i return it to its original colour?

If it's new it's probably just the normal fading in summer. If this is the case there will still be some purplishness to it. Replace with a grafted, named form of good, deep coloring (such as 'Riversii') if you want a more purple tree.

One going pure green with no purplishness left at all would apparently have undergone some sort of change, a sort of reversion to the typical green parent species. This is not usual with these, however. There are towering copper beeches dating from the 19th century still present here in western Washington State.

The purple is less intense in shady conditions - did you plant it in a shady position?
