I live in Toronto, Ontario and I have a large terrace which is pretty much protected from the elements . I'm considering having some large red cedar planter boxes built that will be on castors. My questions are as follows:
I would like to plant some trees (japanese maples - slow growing, and some cypress type of plant). Please advise on types would be best. I believe that my zone is 6a.
I'm wondering how deep the containers should be so I'm not having to re-plant them in larger planters in a couple of years.
I would also like to insulate them. What should I use - polystyrene board and film?
Should I seal the cedar inside and out?
Your input would be greatly appreciated.
