First Crenagh and I are new members to this Forum. We will be attending the 10th International Heritage Rose Conference in Dunedin, New Zealand this December. This will be the 5th such Heritage Rose conference we have attended over the years. Unfortunatly at too many of them we have been the only Canadians and it appears that this will be the case this year. On the subject matter Helga Brichet, as chair of the World Federation of Rose Societies Special Conservation Committee, will convene a special meeting of the committee in Dunedin. We will be asked to report on the state of rose conservation in Canada and are asking for assistance to produce a report that does more than say "we don't know". We have already been in contact with Claire Laberge (Rosarian, Montreal Botanical Garden) who has been helpfull. Can anyone help us with this? We plan to be in Vancouver in October to attend the Vancouver Rose Society's monthly meeting. Though not expert rose growers we have an extensive library which includes a complete set of the RNRS published Rose jounals and have published indexes of the articles and illustrations for 1910 to 2002 and are in the process of updating these. We hope that we can meet some of you when in Vancouver in October.
David and Crenagh, There is a member of staff who's a member of the Vancouver Rose Society - I'll pass your note along to him. Daniel
Daniel We plan to be in Vancouver for the Vancouver Rose Society meeting October 18th. We could visit the UBC Garden eithe the Tuesday (18) morning at about 10:30 (to allow time to get in from the Ferry) or Wednesday morning. Could you pass this on to your Rosearian? We have not heard from him yet. David Elliott theelliotts@shaw.ca
