What is the difference regarding using Compost vs Manure?

I have found lots of information regarding the differences of chicken vs sheep vs steer manure, so I'm not asking about that....They come from different sources I know....and, both add nutrients (and volume) to the soil, however.....what else?

This is my FIRST post on this site so I look forward to your responses!
    Thanks!

Compost implies that some microbal breakdown of the material has already occurred. The value of compost is its organic matter and microbes for soil activity, with some small amount of nutrients. Manure has many more nutrients; so many that some types may burn plants, unless, of course, it is first composted.
