compost and potted plants

    Can i use compost on potted plants? What kind of plants would need compost often and how often?

    you can use compost on potted plants, but i would sterilize it first, you can do this by placing it in the oven at about 350f for about half an hour till it is totally dry. this will prevent any bad bacteria from harming your houseplants. aslo compost is generally a heavier soil thatn potting soil so make sure to add some coarse sand to it to help it drain better.

    jus to make sure io understand: do i add compost on a regular basis to the soil or once a season? and a nother question, just wondering: why is bacteria found in compost dangerous for potted plants but o.k. for garden plants?
