I am a new home owner and hired an landscaper and fear that they have over-trimmed our bushes. Unfortunately, I do not know that names of all of the bushes that we have, but they are different types of hedges. The landscaper completely trimmed off all of the branches and leaves on some bushes, leaving a stump with bare, cut braches telling me that that is what is needed to let the bush grow back. Has he damaged the bushes? Will they grow back in a weird shape?

    Thanks

You've got nothing to lose by waiting. For some types of bushes, if they were really overgrown, the landscaper might be right, for example if they were yews or boxwood. I'm not sure it was the right time of year to do it, but you might be OK. Hang in till next spring and see what happens.

Thanks Karin, I figure that's the only choice I've got is to wait and see. I will try talking to my plants too, they say that helps and at this point I've got nothing to lose. :-)
