I have this big pot in my balcony with earth that was left covered and unused for almost 10 years.About 3 weeks later some plants grew but I have no idea what they are. Specially since the pot was left unused and covered for 10 years with just ground in it.Thanks for any hint.

Thanks. What can I do to prevent these weeds from growing? Is there a "weed killer"?

Easiest to just pull them out by hand.

Did you uncover the dirt 3 weeks ago? Even if covered for ten years, there will be dormant weed seeds that will sprout as soon as light and water and air are available. Wind also brings seeds.

Your hands are a "weed killer' - just yank it up. Use a small hand shovel to help get all the roots.

Yes, I uncovered the dirt just 3 weeks ago after 10 years approx. Thanks for the advise, I'll manually remove them one by one.Thanks.

Very interesting. Unfortunately when I uncovered the pot I discovered lots of ants and ant eggs that thrived under the cover protection, so I sprayed some pesticide. Eventhough I then removed the topsoil sprayed with pesticide there might be traces left in the weeds that grew later, so I'd rather refrain from tasting them, thanks anyway. Is the growth of these weeds a sign that the ground might not be fertile enough or in bad condition? I'm planning to plant an avocado seed and I want to know if I need to change the ground or not
