Hi all, My mom came in to stay with me while waiting for surgery for lung cancer (80 years old and good prognosis:), but she was so frazzled getting ready that she forgot to dig up some comfrey root to bring with her. (Her digestive system acts up a lot!) Surgery was originally scheduled for January 31, but she got bumped two days before, and is still waiting for a new surgery date. Is there anyone in Vancouver who be so kind as to share some with her? I live near Queen Elizabeth Park, but I can bus it to anywhere in Vancouver. Thank you very much.
You should be able to buy comfrey root in any Health Food store in Vancouver. Check the phone book or search the Net for the one located near you.
I think products containing comfrey for internal use are banned in Canada, because it can cause liver damage. It is probably still sold for topical use. http://www.cbif.gc.ca/pls/pp/ppack.info?p_psn=252&p_type=all&p_sci=comm http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/herb/comfrey By the way the root is more dangerous than the leaves, but neither are recommended for consumption.
