While cleaning pots and getting them in the coldframe for winter I notices an unusual branch in this A. P. Atrolinere. Can anyone comment on what is happening. The Tree is about three years old and normal in every other way except the branch at the lower right side which is well above the graft.

Yes we did have spells of hot this Summer and the tree was in full sun in a pot since Spring. It does have an unusual collar at the base of the branch. I will tag that branch and watch it thru the next growing season. The foliage and bark on that branch is that of a young Bloodgood but that may have been juvenile foliage and will change as it matures. The buds are far different than the Atrolinere buds also. Are juvenile buds that much different than those on mature branches??? I'm still a novice collector and curious. Thanks for the info!
