Wildflowers: Colombian Streanside Flower

    Can anyone tell me what this might be. Growing along a mountain stream in Colombia.

    Begonia perhaps?

    Leaves are wrong for Begonia. I'd be looking at Psychotria and the closely related Cephaelis; I'd think Psychotria because of both the bracts as well as the prophylls visible in the second and third photos. Good luck pinning down a species, though - Psychotria's biodiversity hotspot is your forests.

    Thank you Lorax, and yes I see what you mean. I read on one site that there are 1200-1400 species.
