Is this a heliconia and if so which one? Found on western slope of the Central Codillera at around 1900M.

Can you post a photo of the foliage?

    It's a Zingiberaceae not Heliconia.
Perhaps Lorax or another member can help
    with local South American species.
    Guessing Renealmia alpinia ?

Yes I think it is Renealmia alpinia. I found another image of one located in Colombia. Thank you very much.

I'll second Renealmia alpinia. Very common down here, especially in west-slope cloud forests.
