I live in Ottawa and would appreciate advice on hedge plants that can be used in our zone (3-4)? I am particularly interested in any Holly plants that would be suitable for our cold weather region but all that I have seen online are for warmer climates.

Do you know of any Holly that would withstand our generally cold winters?

    I. rugosa x I. aquafolium Blue Prince and Blue Princess ( male and female plants ) , should grow in Ottawa and are evergreen . The will take zone 4 ( Ottawa is zone 5 ) but still need protection against drying winds in winter ( snow helps ) . I grew these in North Bay ( zone 4a ) , with some winter dieback , but they survived . Also the Inkberry Holly is quite hardy ( Ilex glabra ) , but looks more like a boxwood than a Holly .....
