uh oh. ran into a problem with the coco husk mats. Lifted some up today to find this - some sort of nasty rot. Disappointing because I was quite pleased with them so far in terms of squirrel protection and erosion control. In some cases there was no mulch on them and in others less than an inch, but didn't seem to matter which ones were affected. If anybody out there having better success (gomero?) suggestions welcome.

    thanks

    Hi Paxi,

It looks to me as some sort of fungus mycelia. I guess the question you are asking is whether they are 'nice' or 'deleterious' kind of fungi.
My hunch is that they are 'nice' although to make sure you may want to send some samples to be analyzed.

thanks, I haven't yet had experience with sending out any samples for analysis but good to know that this doesn't necessarily spell doom! Will monitor closely.
