I was reading about a University or a Botanical garden and they were attemping to grow a Coco de Mer and i was wondering if it would be possible to grow one indoors or outdoor in a warm place(like Phoenix).
Hi i am a guide at the valley de mai in the seychelles where the coco de mer grows in nits natural habitat, there are attempts that has been made to try and grow coco de mer in green houses one of the positive attemps is at the kew gardens in london england, there is a young one growing in frankfurt in germany ,two plants in sri lanka and we have donated a couple of seeds to the edens project in cornwall england. But up to now no transplant has ever been succesful , you will have to plant a seed, and wait thats the big problem its super slow growing, so in a green house you'll have to make provisions to keep increasing the hight of the enclosure for around 200 years thats when they stop growing,so its for the long run if its a fad do not atttempt it . mick
