    Hello,

I clipped a beautiful twig from a shrub that I would like identified. A master gardner has said it might be a type of escallonia, and other gardeners have thought perhaps azalea. I'd like to know for certain. It has small, rounded leaves and has pink flowers with white tips that span about 1". The flowers grow in small clusters.

    Thank you.

    Azalea, not Escallonia

It looks like an evergreen variety, doesn't it?

I believe it is an evergreen. My feeling is it's an azalea, but I have yet to see one with this pretty flower.

Thanks for your answers. I'm with you, I think it's an azalea also -- but I've not seen one with these pretty flowers. I might have to try clipping the bigger plant from the root (although it's not mine to cut), or do with a similar but different azalea.

May be found to resemble 'Ben Morrison'. However, there are a great many evergreen azalea cultivars.
