I have 2 well-established plants in the ground at my present house and I'm moving next week. Is it possible to move them with me? I'm in the Lower Mainland. thanks for help! Nikki

Both plants have big root systems and don't really like to be transplanted but if you have to this is a good time to do it. Get as big as root ball as you can, don't let it dry out and replant as soon as possible. You probably will have to cut off some of the top. Keep them watered next summer. Sorry, there is no fertilizer or vitamin that will really help prevent transplant shock. You can give them some organic fertilizer in the spring. Don't amend the soil but do put a 1-3 inch layer of mulch on top. Clematis is one of the few plants you can plant deeper, up to 6 inches, than the original soil level.
For the wisteria in a pot, make sure you cut and untangle any circling roots. Plant in full sun and give it a big, strong support. Otherwise it would be the same.
