clematis fungus

    I have about six clematis in containters on my deck garden. They are about 4 or five years old. Over last year I noticed what I think is a fungus on the stems of the type B and C plants - not on the type A ones. Is this a fungus? If so, how can I treat it? Pictures attached - sorry they aren't closer up.
