We have about a variety of Clematis plants which grow along the chain link fence. They all seem to be growing with vigour in the spring and suddenly one or two started to show brown leaves near the bottom and eventually some vines look like they are brown and dead. The same thing happened last year. What causes this? We have sandy soil and the plants are well mulched.
