I have an area around a seasonal pond which is heavy with salal. Nothing else can grow there and the plants are breaking down the edges of the pond.
Any particular way of getting rid of some of these plants? Their roots seem to travel miles and very hard to get up.
    Thanks Martin

Slow growing. Lop it off near the ground and then re-cut sprouts that come from roots.
