    Hello All,

Hopefully someone will be able to advise me as quickly as possible.

I have a citrus tree that I grew from seed (probably a lemon or orange) that I've had for about 7 or 8 years. I actually feel sorry for it because it wants to grow and every year I trim it back.. I live in new york city and my mother is leaving for Puerto Rico tomorrow morning. She said she would take it with her and plant it in the back yard. This is why I need expert advise immediately.

what do I have to do? should I remove it from the pot, wash off all the dirt and cut back the top portion of the plant leaving only the rootsystem and some trunk? will this shock the tree and kill it? is it worth risking the move? what are its chances of surviving...

thanks.. I called the Puerto Rico number over and over but got no answer.. Looks like I'll have to keep the tree in my apartment in NYC until the next trip to Puerto Rico.
