My ponytail has survived an accidental topping twice now, but at the moment is very sick with mealy bug as my unit was scaffolded in with little daylight for 5 months. It is also too tall and hitting my balcony ceiling. Do you think I could chop about half off and regrow a healthy plant? I have never seen any pups on mine. By the way I'm in Australia, but I dont think this makes any difference. so, to chop or not to chop?? And how?

Ive read all the past posts on pruning a ponytail, and all I'm wondering now is : should I leave my ponytail in sun or shade while it is trying to come good after a slice?

Ponytail is such a cool plant! When I have chopped plants in the past, I give them some shade so they don't freak out too bad. You can use some neem oil (it's natural) for the mealy bugs.
