My Akebias are producing fruit and I'm honest stumped on how to tell when its ripe, has anyone had any experience with this plant?

Currently there are about 8-10 large, green sausage shape fruits (3 - 4 inches long and about 1.5 inches across) on two of my vines.

Could use some pictures, how can we tell what it looks like?
Have you looked on the internet for pictures of ripe ones so you know what color they turn?

    Thanks!
It's taken 4 years to get them to produce so I'm looking forward to sampling them.....and who knows what I can make out of them :)
