Hi there. I read your reply to yellowing of leaves on my holly plant and went out and purchased some Plant Prod Iron Chelate 7% powder and some Aluminun Sulphate Soil Acidifier granules. I mixed the Iron and the Aluminum Sulphate in an appropriate amount of water and applied them to the holly plant. Hopefully it will work.
Now, my question is, I have a hedge consisting of approximately 20-30 Hicks and Hills Yews approximately 60 to 70 ft long and notice every year there appears to be a somewhat significant number of internal leaves that yellow and drop so I assume it is the same problem. My PH meter indicated all soils were Alkaline as opposed to Acidic. In any event, I was just wondering if I could place the granules in a hose end sprayer and apply to the hedges as this would be much easier than mixing in a watering can. If so, what concentration should I use? The Aluminum Suphate is indicating 3ml per liter of water. My Hose end sprayer holds 398 mls or 14 oz. Or could I use an old Or, could I use an old Miracle-Gro No Clog-2 Hose end sprayer attachment. Not sure on the mix rate on this one as it doesn't indicate on the instructions.
