Hi all. I have 2 very broad-leafed trees on my new property, which I am told are called Chinese Emperors. Would like to know if there would be any harm to the tree in cutting off low branches, which are impeding inground sprinkler system water flow to other shrubs and lawn. Also would appreciate any maintenance hints. They are both in well-drained soil, close to a sidewalk and driveway, and in mainly direct sunlight. Thanks in advance for any comments you may have. Regards, Brian C.

Would they be Chinese Empress trees , Paulownia tomentosa, instead ? If so ,they can take hard pruning, but would likely be better located away from a sidewalk or driveway, because of their root growth and dropping leaves, etc.

Thanks for the information, and I think it is a Chinese Empress tree, despite what the landscaper tree. Regards, Brian C.
