I have two beautiful mature cherry trees. Last year both blossommed beautifully and looked very healthy to me(though I know little). This year one has failed to show a leaf, a bud, or a blossom and i think it is now sadly dead. The other tree is in full leaf but failed to show its lovely pink blossom this year. The blossom appeared to go straight to dried brown and then fall off. The bark also looks very dark, almost black in places. Any idea what this coudl be? and is it to late to save the second from the fate of the first?

    thanks

Start with "bacterial canker" and "brown rot" (of stone fruits).

Thanks. I've looked into those and the symptoms seem a bit different. The leaves look healthy and I have noticed small round white mushroom type growths on the branches and trunk. Does this mean it could be something else?
