My neighbor has a cherry tree that yields like crazy, I'm guessing montmorency and thats his guess too. How would I go about getting that tree to grow in my yard also? Could I just cut off some new growth dig down and get some root and graft them together? Or could I just cut some slips and see if I can get 1 that puts on roots? I've been searching the net and found some good info but never did find much about sour cherries specific.

Ordinarily - in commercial practice at least - it would be grafted onto a suitable rootstock. Cuttings might also be possible, probably using special equipment and methods (to get a high enough percentage of rooting to make it worthwhile). This is one of those things where if you have to ask then you probably don't know enough about it to have it work out - unless you take the time and trouble to learn how first.
